Now for those who do not understand what a High Score challenge is, you may want to ask your parents who spent their teenage years in arcades during lunch time and after school hours.

What will basically happen is, we will have players compete for a high scores in the games mentioned above. A score will be kept threw out the day and the highest score will result in that player winning the event. Other games may be announced in the comming weeks. Just stay tuned for it!

"Speed Run Challenge?" Yes you heard it right, much like the "High Score Challenge" players will compete for "who can beat this game the fastest". Basically you will attempt to beat a game faster than anyone at the convention. The games are, Super Mario Bros 3, Megaman 3, Ninja Gaiden 2, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Castlevania. Yeah, it's an old school line up!

"Nintendo History Quiz" So you think you know all there is to know about Nintendo Games do ya? Well lets put it to a test. A quiz will be done on Nintendos quiz, 25 Questions regarding Nintendo mascot videogames.

Rules for Both the Speed Run, High Score Challenge and Quiz can be found here!

"Fighting Game Tournaments" Yes, Edmonton Gamers will be running some tournaments for fighters, as well as offering people the chance to bring in their own favorite games to play in a tournament format. Players will compete in a 1 vs 1 best 2/3 match. The tournament is double elimination. Meaning, when and if you lose your first 2/3 match, you will move into the losers bracket of the event.

Autumn Games and Reverge Labs will incorporate GroundStorm Studios’ Good Game, Peace Out (GGPO) proprietary networking technology to enhance Skullgirls’ online fighting experience. Designed specifically to enable fast-action games online, GGPO’s technology is used as a tool to play classic, old-school fighting games over the internet. Skullgirls will be the first new fighting game to integrate the technology for home consoles, allowing for a smooth, delay-free online gaming experience.

GGPO creator and founder of GroundStorm Studios, Tony Cannon:

“GGPO’s latency-hiding techniques are specifically designed for the kind of fast-action gameplayfound in Skullgirls. They eliminate input ‘lag’ to ensure that the moves, combos and reversals you learn will work identically online and off, even over slower network connections.”

GroundStorm Studios’ GGPO networking technology is designed to solve the internet latency issues that often plague online gameplay, allowing it to mirror the experience of playing with friends locally. With GGPO, players across the world can easily play games against each other online as if they were next to each other in the arcade or on the couch at home.

Jason Donnell, president and COO, Autumn Games:

“Skullgirls is really a love letter to fighting game fans new and old, and we are aiming to deliver the best experience possible. GGPO is helping us accomplish our goal by enhancing Skullgirls’ fully-featured online mode. At the end of the day, it’s all about delivering a polished, high-quality game, and the integration of GroundStorm’s technology ensures that Skullgirls fans will enjoy the same high-quality action with friends, whether they are a few feet from each other or thousands of miles apart.”

Links_sword
